Caudebec-en-Caux feels like going back in time. Amidst the traditional half-timbered French houses towers Notre-Dame Church, whose facade is richly decorated with figures and ornaments. Plan plenty of time to check it out. The Templars’ House is the oldest house here; it was built in the 13th century and is now a museum of local history. On the way back to the ship, you can stroll along the riverbank and enjoy the view over the river with its hilly panorama and the modern Pont de Brotonne. YOU HAVE TO SEE : The MuséoSeine, where you can take an interactive river trip into the past – if the present river isn’t enough for you! YOU HAVE TO TRY: Seafood. The closer we get to the Atlantic, the better the quality is, even in the smallest of brasseries. The small port city of Honfleur is situated where the Seine estuary meets the English Channel. Narrow, colourful houses give the historic quay its character. Small skiffs are moored at the promenade where you can explore the traditional market stalls. From the harbour you can see the Sainte-Catherine Church, an old sailors’ church made entirely from wood. At the Maisons Satie you can enjoy a new experience of the works of composer Erik Satie, who was born in Honfleur, on a multimedia tour. Or you can simply explore the many cobbled alleyways that snake between the beautiful half-timbered houses. YOU HAVE TO SEE : The Notre-Dame de Grâce sailors’ chapel. From there, you have a unique view across to Le Havre. YOU HAVE TO TRY: The oysters at Huître Brûlée. This delicacy is prepared expertly at the eponymous restaurant. Bon appétit!
